New Year New Glam!
2015 started with a glamorous bang, in the form of the annual Palm Springs International Film Festival. Attended by some of Hollywood’s biggest names, the event was the perfect occasion to get our fashion juices flowing in anticipation for the coming year!
Our favourite blonde, Reese Witherspoon, was a vintage vision in this adorable pearl-embellished Michael Kors number. I love the 3D polka dot effect and subtle styling details, such as the cut-away sleeves and shorter hemline, which make it modern and cool.
Her side swept curls ooze old-school Hollywood, but that fabulous pop of pink on her lips is fresh and contemporary. I’m not crazy about going too matchy matchy, but I would probably have brought in more colour by accessorising with complimentary tones, such as a hot pink clutch and red shoes (although I do love her simple black courts with the open sides – so subtly sexy, and flattering to boot), or painted my nails in the same shade. I love how she’s kept her overall look simple though – no fussy jewellery or paraphernalia, the dress makes a statement on its own.

Oh my days, I’m so in love with Julianne Moore’s look! This Delpozo dress is just perfect on her and her alabaster skin. I’ve always loved this orangey shade – it’s not as harsh on the skin as red, similar to the navy and black comparison – and it’s beautiful paired with neutrals, like the nude frilled hem. Again, this has a lovely modern feel with its sleek lines, curved neckline and origami sleeves. The sequin-embellished floral detailing is subtle and pretty, but not at all chintzy.
I love the shade of her shoes – perfectly matched to the detailing on the dress, but I think I would have avoided that low platform sole and gone for something like a nude, studded Louboutin point-toe court shoe (my latest obsession. I have Topshop copycats and just can’t get enough of them!). Moore’s face is just flawless, and I’m so happy she lets her natural beauty shine through, with neutral make-up and those gorgeous beachy waves, the perfect, laid back finishing touches to a beautifully polished outfit.!
Well if this isn’t most perfect post-pregnancy red carpet dress there ever was, I don’t know what is! I adore this kind of full, trapeze shape, as it disguises everything going on around your middle, and makes your legs look great (not that Rosamund Pike needs any of that trickery). Do some bicep curls before you go out (or slip on a fine jersey jumper underneath), and you’re a high fashion vixen. The silk sheen of this dress screams luxury, as do the blush pink and black contrasts, with the textured, jacquard panels. And she has legs to chest ratio down like a pro – the super short length of the dress is balanced out with the demure, high tabbed collar.
Because this Alexander McQueen dress is such a bold, graphic block of colour and fabric, this choice of delicate heeled shoe is perfect. You don’t want too much fuss surrounding an outfit like this, so the skinny ankle ties are embellishment enough. Similarly, the sleek hair and natural make-up isn’t distracting, and the gorgeous glossy lips just add a pop of vibrancy as her one accessory. Gorgeous!
