#NYFW & The Future of Fashion

The future of fashion is here. For September New York Fashion Week, NYFW production company FTL Moda (celebrating its 10th year) will be joined by Next Artists and Samsung to curate one-of-a-kind fashion experiences at its technology-enabled venue Space 404 in Midtown Manhattan.

The shows will take place Thursday, September 8th (womenswear and menswear), and Saturday, September 10th(kids collection showcase), at Space 404 at 404 10th Avenue, New York, NY.

Although the shows are by invitation only, a limited amount of tickets have been allocated for the public at FTLShows.com, or TheShows.NYC.

WHAT IS THE FUTURE OF FASHION?

Because the future of fashion (and retail) is technology, FTL Moda’s show will play host to Samsung’s state-of-the-art interactive mirror displays, which provide new avenues for the fashion industry to refine and deliver content, while offering complete product visibility.

Social media stations will provide visibility to established labels of the fashion industry through live-streamed red carpet interviews and live entertainment with VIPs, celebrities, and industry influencers, who will have the opportunity to see the Samsung technology in action.

FTL Moda’s partners Fashion Week Online (the world’s top dedicated fashion week portal) will live-stream the shows, red carpet, and technological fun in real-time.

And because the future of fashion is compassion, FTL Moda’s shows will feature acid attack survivor Reshma Qureshi, along with the hashtag #TakeBeautyBack, in partnership with Global Disability Inclusion.

WHAT’S NEXT? BEAUTY, OF COURSE!

The show on Saturday, September 10th will also play host to the Fashion Week Beauty Lounge, by Next Artists in conjunction with Fashion Week Online and FTL Moda.

Next Artists — a division of Next Models — is, of course, part of the legendary talent agency founded in 1989 by Faith Kates with Joel Wilkenfeld. They’ve represented an incredible range of talent over the years: everyone from Alexa Chung and Alice Dellal, to Jessica AlbaLana del ReySuki Waterhouse, and many others.

Although the beauty lounge is by invitation only, Fashion Week Online will be bringing viewers live, exclusive behind-the-scenes coverage, with Next’s top models, celebrity hair stylists and makeup artists, and VIP guests of New York Fashion Week.

All the fun is all accessible from your laptop, or work computer. (We won’t tell.) Tune in Thursday, September 8th, and Saturday, September 10th, at FashionWeekOnline.com.

Chiara Ferragni at New York Fashion Week

It’s heere! Fashion month is officially upon us, and as always we’ve got a plethora of fun and fabulous street stylers to ogle. We start in chilly New York, where the mercury is hanging seriously low…

Layering is the order of the day, and The Blonde Salad blogger, Chiara Ferragni, shows that you can keep warm and still look cool at New York Fashion Week (oh don’t roll your eyes, I’ve got hundreds of them!). I love her classy floor length camel coat (ASOS do a beautiful soft textured wool duster coat) paired with her chic black roll neck and bleached skinny jeans. So far so good. But mixing in that cropped camo puffer jacket (a style I usually wouldn’t touch with a bargepole), and some quite dramatic ski goggles (well I’ve heard it can get a bit snowy in the Big Apple) adds a cosy, quirky twist to an otherwise sophisticated look. If you’re not so keen on the traditionally outdoorsy jacket, try switching in another design, just make sure to keep your top layer cropped so you have some definition to your lengths. Shrimps do gorgeous brushed felt biker jackets with colourful faux fur collars – this bright contrasting one from Net-A-Porter will add a playful element to your look, or you could keep things simple and chic with this fab denim kimono jacket from MIH Jeans . For a lighter cover-up, why not try a sleeveless design that will take you through to Spring? This  Zara parka will look great over the neutral duster coat, as well as a simple striped Breton jumper when it gets warmer.

I’m giving Ms Ferragni a double bill today, as she’s just too fab. Here she is rocking the cropped skinnies and black roll neck again, but this time adding a kitsch slogan jumper and fun furry jacket. Who said fashion was stoic? This girl demonstrates fashion’s cheeky side. Markus Lupfer is famous for his quirky sequinned tees and jumpers, and currently has an exclusive city collection for Net-A-Porter. This Paris design is my fave! When it comes to fur, the high street is awash with brilliant faux versions, there’s absolutely no need to go for the real deal. Check out all the usual suspects – ASOS, Topshop, Primark et al – for a style to suit you (aaaaand hopping off my soap box now). In this instance I love the cropped cut of the jacket with the longer length jumper and streamlined pants. When going for something so bulky it’s always more flattering to keep the rest of your silhouette sleek, as demonstrated here. Continuing to mix those proportions, I’m loving the massive mittens and the teeny tiny (albeit totally useless) cross body bag. Designers are loving the miniature bag phenomenon. To be honest, it’s not something I’m totally on board with as the price tag doesn’t really correlate with the size. However, Mulberry’s Small Delphie does give you a little bit more bag for your buck with their flip design (you can flip it over to reveal a contrasting leather for a whole different look. No, I couldn’t picture how it works either, so check out the little demo on their website). I still don’t think it justifies the £700-plus price tag, but if you’ve mastered the art of packing light you’ll love it.

Georgia Kousoulou for Fuschia White

With her girl-next-door good looks and natural flair for fashion, TOWIE’s Georgia Kousoulou has hundreds of thousands of female fans keen to emulate her style. The star, who likes to make trends rather than follow them, has created a complete clothing line for Fuschia White, a chic online boutique for fashion lovers.

Georgia has been proudly wearing her own designs for Fuschia White while enjoying party season nights out with her boyfriend, Tommy Mallet. Pictures of Georgia wearing top-to-toe Fuschia White have already been dominating the fashion pages in the national press, leading to a surge in demand for key pieces from her collection.

Georgia said: “I love my collection for Fuschia White because every piece is different and unique. The pieces range from comfy to perfect for a glam night out. I have chosen carefully to create an ideal all-round wardrobe.”

Georgia Kousoulou for Fuschia White

Fuschia White was the brainchild of North West-based sisters, Lubaina Zulfikar Karimjee and Lamya Ali Dalal, who have followed in the footsteps of the Kardashian sisters to launch their own fashion empire. The website was born out of their desire to create a website based on quality than quantity, helping women to avoid the ultimate fashion faux pas of turning up to an event wearing the same outfit as someone else.

Keeping fashion fresh, every two weeks a new collection is uploaded onto the website, focusing on colour, detail and design. Each piece is unique, which goes with the sisters’ motto of being different. They want to make sure that women feel confident when wearing a piece from the collection, yet still feel natural and feel “Simplicity is elegance”.

Despite the overnight success of Georgia’s debut collection for Fuschia White, the sisters have resisted the temptation to cash in on the collaboration, keeping prices surprisingly affordable. Georgia’s stunning ‘Snow White’ necklace is priced at just £12, while her classic soft touch blazer (a true wardrobe staple) costs just £30. Her ‘Lady in Red’ trousers and blazer cost just £25 each and are already a firm favourite of the fashion press.

The collaboration between Georgia Kousoulou and Fuschia White marks another exciting chapter for Lubaina and Lamya, who have been delighted by how quickly their website has taken off. With the Georgia Kousoulou collection attracting a whole new audience of fashion lovers to the stylish website, Lubaina and Lamya are preparing for a whirlwind start to 2015. Shopping from the latest celebrity range has never been easier!

Golden Globes 2015 Fashion

Golden Globes 2015 Fashion – Kerryn’s favourite looks

You can always rely on Cara Delevingne to give an occasion a bit of cool-girl edge, and her Golden Globes Thierry Mugler dress didn’t disappoint. With her model-perfect proportions, that navel-grazing plunging neckline with caged front is just the right side of bondage chic (if you need to wear a bra then don’t go there!). That front split is also pretty risqué, but that nonchalant face is completely unfazed by any potential wardrobe malfunctions. While the dress is relatively simple, it still makes a statement, which Cara recognises, therefore keeping her accessories to the minimum. I can’t get enough of initial necklaces – I have the cutest tiny K pendant from Laura Lee Jewellery, and I want to add one of her initial coin designs to my collection – Cara’s version is bold with a subtly gothic vibe going on, which works perfectly with the dress.  Her black peep-toe ankle boots and smoky eyes are the perfect finishing touch to this cutting edge ensemble (and check out her red-carpet to after party make-up switcheroo – natural lips at the start of the event are vamped up to a dark plum party perfect pucker).

I have a very serious girl crush on Emma Stone. She can do no wrong. Talented, funny, not afraid to make fun of herself, and those enormous, cat-shaped eyes… But today we’re talking about her clothes (which she also does to perfection! One of my favourite pastimes is Googling Emma Stone Outfits. You should do it, it’s not a sad as it sounds). Emma is doing her Diane Keaton thing again, rocking a real menswear-inspired beauty. This Lanvin jumpsuit is the perfect combination of red carpet glam and sleek androgyny. How gorgeous is that embellished bandeau top? I love the contrast between all that metallic detailing and the simple cigarette trousers. And that huge sash and bow to the back is just fabulous, adding a gorgeous couture element to her look. She too has kept accessories to a bare minimum, with just a pair of super sharp point toe court shoes, and soft waves in that glossy auburn bob. Now, excuse me while I go and Google search her again…

Wow, this girl. Red carpet dressing for Hollywood young’uns is a minefield, but Hailee Steinfeld cracks it every time. This Stella McCartney gown is no exception. I love the fact that, like all girls her age, she’s doing the mid-riff thing, albeit in a slightly more sophisticated manner with cut-away lace panelling. She stands out in a sea of sparkles with this graphic print and contrasting fishnet detailing. It’s bold and fun, and, dare I say it, ‘age appropriate’. No boobs, not even any leg, just bare arms and that flash of flesh around her waist and lower back. The longer length train is ideal for this kind of event, still giving her something to swish. The only part of her look I don’t love is the shoes. I think I would have gone for something a bit tougher, maybe some caged shoe boots or multi-strapped heels, but otherwise, she’s an absolute vision of cool youthfulness.

#INSPIRED Party Princess

American singer/song writer, Aubrey O’Day, looks like a glamorous little gothic fairy, or a total party princess. You just can’t go wrong in a tulle midi skirt, and this black number is perfect for the Christmas party season. Topshop’s offering has a lovely mix of the demure midi-length, with the sexy sheer layers exposing a bit of leg for a fun, youthful feel. If you’re more of a print girl, then head over to ASOS for this gorgeous floral design.

The rich tone is perfect for partying all through the winter, and the mixed up florals will look great with a simple plain tee in the summer. This is the definition of an all round investment piece (and it’s a snip at just £65!).

The Northerner in me just loves a good sequin. I’m a magpie for all things shiny, and I’m currently obsessing over this Alice + Olivia sequinned top . Yes, we’ve established I’m not a fan of cropped tops, but paired with a high waisted skirt I might just be able to get away with baring the tiniest slivers of skin. The bracelet sleeves and slash neckline give enough coverage to compensate for the cropped length, and the fitted shape will work perfectly with the fuller tulle skirt. If you’re saving your pennies for Christmas presents and can’t justify spending so much on yourself, ASOS, as always, is here to save the day. If you like to keep your multi-textured looks streamlined, then stick to the same colour palette throughout and go for this beautiful black matt sequinned top.

As Aubrey demonstrates, the pointed court is the most perfect shoe to go with such a statement skirt. But simple doesn’t mean boring – let your footwear shine! Go bold with these neon and black Jimmy Choos , or sparkle in my faves, these gorgeous rose gold textured leather Isabel Marant hotties with cute bow detail.
